Happy Times - Prelude

One of the things I love about life is spending time with people; whether it be with family or friends, I just looove spending quality time with them. I try to cherish every moment of it cuz I never know when it is gonna happen again. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why I love linguistics, the fact that language and communication is so crucial to our lives just amazes me. Over the years I've come to realize that I can't live without friends, family or just someone to there to listen/talk to. Yaa... God's always there and He promised to never leave me, but everyone needs a physical being for support. The bible says it so clearly in Genesis: God created Adam and various animals, but they couldn't communicate/understand each other and so God created Eve to accompany Adam. We have this innate ability to learn and communicate with others (Sidebar: Don't know if the SS kids are learning anything, but I am actually learning a lot when I prepare lessons! )

However, one of the weaknesses that I have is that I get too dependent/attached to people... that I get really depressed when they leave or when I don't get to see them anymore. It doesn't matter if I've known for 10 days or 10 years, I would still be sad if I know that I wouldn't be able to see them on a regular basis. Yes I eventually forget about them and life moves on, but still, it is the interaction between people that I miss. When 80% of my friends from church left a couple months ago, I was REALLY sad by it...

Every girl likes presents, but I'd rather trade material things for time. When Zoe decided to surprise me on my birthday this year, I felt extremely loved because they actually didn't mind wasting time on me. I mean, Who am I? I am nobody. I am not a popular person in the church and I am not anyone special. But they still wanted to spend time with me because they treat me like a sister no matter the circumstances. It certainly made me feel extremely touched that day.

Everyone has a story to tell; and it is only when we sit down and listen to them that we can find out what is happening in their lives. It is funny how God planned all this, I mean, with people leaving the church, I actually had the chance to talk to some people whom I was quite intimidated by. Yes, I had to get out of my comfort zone, open up myself (if you know me, this is actually VERY hard for me to do!) and tried to get to know them...but it is really the only way to get to know others and make new friends.

So I guess it is not a bad thing that a lot of my friends left, because it really forced me (in a good way) to get to know other people; some whom I've gotten really close with in the past couple of months.

Where did time go?

Everything seems so all of a sudden.

It feels like it was just yesterday when Zoe celebrated my birthday.

It feels like it was just yesterday when I left my old church and moved to MCAC. The kids who were 10 yo the last time I talked to them are now in university. The older people who were in university are now either married, pregnant or have multiple kids. Even babies are now in highschool!!!! and the next thing I know is that I'm 30 and still in school (which I hope it won't happen >.<)

Where did time go?! Why is the world spinning so fast? and it seems like time is passing by quicker each year!

nooooooo time needs to slow down! there's alot of things I want to do before I get old.

Training

placeholder for now. something to blog about.

What's happening with Priscilla?

I am back! It's definitely been awhile since I last wrote here. It is actually kinda funny how many people still read my blog despite this mini-hiatus (Just a heads up though, my life isn't all that interesting so I don't think you'll find any anything entertaining here).
For the past two months, I have been doing ALOT things. I don't really recall what I did exactly besides the big events, but it felt like I was in my own little world and time just flew right by....

I have been schooling, working on my research paper and the online course. The research paper is coming along nicely, and I hope I can do a decent job on it. I really underestimated this paper a couple months ago because I didn't think it would take this long for me to write it, but it has taken up ALOT of my time, practically day and night reading articles after articles, trying to find sources to add to my argument. The first draft was a big failure because I didn't put enough effort into it and it was no surprise that my supervisor didn't like what I wrote. So for the past couple weeks, I've just been critiquing, analyzing, revising and editing my paper. I really hope my supervisor will approve my second draft. Everything is going by so quickly and I just wish I had the power to stop time. eeks...

A lot of unnecessary things happened to me lately. Sometimes I just don't understand why God put such things in my life..... experiences maybe? don't know. Only God knows. I got into a car accident two weeks ago in Toronto. While I was stopped at a red light, the car behind me rear-ended me. I didn't know what to do at the time but call my dad (it was my first time getting into a car accident) and it didn't help that the guy couldn't speak any English or Cantonese. Not gonna go into details, but it was also a really tough situation because I really wanted to show mercy but I wasn't sure if what I did was the right thing to do. It really bothered me that the guy had so many problems, but at the same time, I knew that was the only way to do it to minimize his mistake. It was definitely a big mistake on my part when I forgot to pray and ask for wisdom right when the accident happened cuz I was too "caught up in the moment". I panicked and I was even more scared when his two friends came and started smoking around me (though I tried to show a tough face when I started talking to them in Canto). Things got complicated and it took awhile for things to resolve. But in the end, i guess it was a great experience, cuz at least I know what to do now when I get into car accidents.

There's also a problem with school for this September. I have been wanting to go back to Mac for a long time now to just complete some courses . But the problem is that the two linguistic courses are FULL, which means there's a BIG chance that I won't be able to apply to SLP this January, which also means that my life is messed? I got REALLY upset at Mac for not putting me as first priority. I didn't even think about other universities (which is REALLY stupid of me!) cuz I only had eyes for Mac. I know it isn't their fault and I got REALLY mad/upset/frustrated for stupid reasons. Things got alot better after talking with my parents and praying and right now, I am just waiting for an email from Mac. I REALLY hope they'll provide a space for me....

It is very hard to not think negatively towards things when stuff don't go accordingly, but I shall not be shaken. I shall not be moved. I will continue to seek the Lord for direction.
